Mole Problem ExampleFind the amount (g) of Oxygen need to burn 60 g of ethane (C2H6).Solution Find the number of moles in 60 g of ethane. Molecular mass of C2H6 is (2×12)+(6×1) = 30 g/mol Therefore, (60 / 30)= 2 mol of C2H6 7 O2 + 2 C2H6 => 4 CO2 + 6 H2O 7 mol of oxygen react with 2 mol of ethane to give 4 mol of carbon dioxide and 6 mol of water. Molecular mass of O2 = (2x16) = 32g / mol. Therefore, (32 g / mol) * (7 mol) = 224 g of O2 needed. © Onimoto.Com. All rights reserved.
